Our website was created to help the family members of those who died and participated in Exercise Tiger. Dean Small, son of the late Ken Small, continues with his father's legacy. We are endorsed by the survivors and the families.
Over the years we have been meeting survivors of Exercise Tiger, and gathered personal stories which we are able to share with you.
Three LSTs were hit by torpedoes. LST 507 and LST 531, both of which sank with great loss of life. LST 289 was hit in the stern, but remained afloat and made it back to Dartmouth.
LST 515's captain, John Doyle, disobeyed orders and returned to rescue survivors from LST 507. The crew saved 134 lives. Stories from crew members of LST 515 are included here.
Veterans on other ships in the convoy have also shared their accounts as witnesses to the attack.
